Homemade gifts are truly the way to any mom’s heart. Personally, my favorite gifts are the perfectly imperfect ones that my kids have made me over the years. I keep each and every one of them and they bring a smile to my face every time I look at them!
With Mother’s Day just around the corner, it’s a great time to make a handmade gift every mom in your life would enjoy! This version is super simple and uses materials you most likely already have on hand!
So grab your Wikki Stix, some basic craft supplies, and your kids and get them involved in the process.
Step 1:
Gather your materials. No need to head to the craft store…raid your leftover craft stash and your recycling bin for items you already have on hand.
Step 2:
Trace the outline of your container onto colorful cardstock with a pencil. Then, cut out the cardstock.
Step 3:
Glue your cardstock onto the container so that it is fully covered. Then, poke a couple of holes in the bottom of your container so that the water from your plants can drain.
Step 4:
Decorate your flower pots! We love using Wikki Stix for this type of craft they adhere so well to cardstock – and, as a bonus, no glue is necessary, making them a super simple and frustration-free way to craft with children.
We pressed our flower pot containers with Wikki Stix and made different designs on each. We then added different craft materials that we had on hand. Pipe cleaners, pom poms and gems work well with this kind of craft. We used the Wikki Stix to make different patterns and worked in some fine motor practice, too!
When your containers are complete, you can put flowers inside – just be sure there are drainage holes in the bottom of your containers! Enjoy!
